- To oppose the stronghold on their liberties.
- Britain had imposed Martial law in Massachuttes and people from other colonies felt it was only a matter of time before they passed this in the other colonies.
- To unite the 13 colonies : 13 clocks beating all at once, 13 ships sailing all at once.
After 2 months of arguing and beliguering the congress came up with the unified message for Britain: Until unified rights are restored all colonies will stop trade with Britain. All militia is to arm in readiness.
